The Thelmas is a female-led touring company formed in response to a growing need for the support and development of new women writers. 

 

We value female-identifying artists and the stories they have to tell. Through our professional productions, artist development, and women-centered workshops we explore the social, political and cultural stories that matter, in a fresh and surprising way. We believe these stories should be developed with the communities they are intended for, and actively seek out opportunities to make our work accessible to those who have traditionally been overlooked, or are underrepresented in the arts. 

 

The Thelmas make thought-provoking, boisterous & complex work that bridges the gap between the political and the mainstream. Passionate about big ideas and bold reimaginings, we are explicitly feminist in ideology, but confound the title of ‘Feminist Theatre’.
