Executive Director

The Thelmas is seeking an experienced, strategic, and forward-thinking Executive Director to join us from mid-January 2026 as we step into an exciting new chapter.

 

Following our 10th anniversary in August 2024, we’re preparing to apply for Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation status and to build on a decade of bold, inclusive, and empowering theatre-making.

 

We are looking for someone who combines strong organisational and financial acumen with a genuine passion for the arts. They’ll bring experience in management, financial planning, and governance, and the confidence to steer the company’s growth while supporting our creative ambitions.

 

Working closely with the current two directors, the Executive Director will take the lead on governance and compliance to strengthen our infrastructure, shape and deliver The Thelmas’ business planning and financial strategy. They will drive fundraising and income generation to ensure financial sustainability, and guide the company’s development in line with our artistic vision.

The ideal candidate will be excited by the possibilities of growth and transformation, commercially aware, and deeply committed to our artistic vision and desired impact.

-Financial oversight and management

-Fundraising and income generation

-Developing partnerships and producing models

-Strategic vision and planning

Key information:​​

£31,250 flat fee for 12 month period on a freelance contract.

Timeline for recruitment

Interviews week commencing 5th January 2026

Role to start ideally 19th January 2026, although this is negotiable
